Courses at St Peter and St Paul’s Church
Here are just some of the questions and answers we’ll be exploring at our next Start Course - see below for more details of dates, times and venue
Who is Jesus?
As Christians, we believe that Jesus is the son of God who's birth we celebrate at Christmas and who's death and resurrection we remember at Easter.
What is a Christian?
Christians are followers of Jesus Christ, who we believe came to earth, died and then rose again for our sins. If we accept him and choose to turn away from our sins, he gives us eternal life.
What is Church?
Church is not the building itself but the group of Christians who gather together to worship God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We call ourselves a 'Church Family' because we do life together - learning, living and loving.
What can I expect from a Sunday morning service?
We gather together every Sunday morning at 10:30 am to worship God, through singing and music, to hear God speak through his word, through Bible readings and sermons and to pray. You’re welcome to participate fully in the service, or just sit in quiet reflection.
Is there anything special I need to do or wear to come to Church?
No. Everyone is welcome to come as they are. We have refreshments on arrival and after the service, blankets to keep you warm in winter (hot water bottles when it is very cold!), a large children's corner (for pre-schoolers) and children's groups (for school-aged children), so all ages can feel comfortable. Unfortunately, we currently don't have toilets within the church, but stewards are always situated at the back who can direct you to toilets and changing facilities in our neighbouring building 30 seconds’ walk away.
I have some more questions!
Come along to The Start Course, which is starting on 8th and 9th January respectively on either Wednesday mornings (for women only) at 09:30 until11:00 or Thursday evenings (for everyone) 19:30 until 21:00 where you can find out more about what we believe and how Jesus can make a difference in your life.
Please email our rector, Jonathan, if you would like to come along, or if you have any other questions: rector@sheptonbenefice.org or emma@sheptonbenefice.org if you’re interested in the course just for women on Wednesdays
